Using OutboundSync's Additional Endpoints Feature

How to Forward Smartlead Payloads to Multiple Webhooks for Automation, Reporting, and Lead Enrichment

Overview

The Additional Endpoints feature in OutboundSync allows users to forward Smartlead payloads to multiple third-party webhook URLs or endpoints, such as Make.com, Zapier, Clay, and other no-code tools. This feature helps extend the reach of your outbound marketing data for automation, reporting, or lead enrichment across different platforms.

The Value in Using Additional Endpoints in OutboundSync

This feature was introduced to overcome Smartlead's limitation of using only one webhook per event type. Refer here to learn more about How Smartlead Webhooks Work.

With Additional Endpoints, you can route specific event data—such as Email Sent, Email Reply, or Lead Category Updated—to multiple platforms simultaneously.

This flexibility ensures that even with Smartlead's restrictions, users can seamlessly integrate their workflows by distributing critical data to various tools for further processing.

You can use Additional Endpoints to:

  • Store campaign replies: Automatically send replies from your email campaigns to another platform for logging and follow-up.
  • Enrich lead data: Trigger third-party services to enhance or enrich your lead data based on specific events.
  • Build specialized reporting: Distribute different events to reporting tools, ensuring you capture detailed metrics on campaign performance across platforms.

How to Set Up Additional Endpoints

Step 1: Connect Your Webhook

  1. Navigate to the Connected Accounts tab in the OutboundSync application.
  2. Click Add Webhook.
  3. Enter the Webhook URL provided by the third-party service.
  4. Give the webhook a Description so you can easily identify it later.
  5. Click Create to finalize the webhook connection.

The webhook URL must be live at the time that you add it. OutboundSync will send a test payload to verify we can deliver payloads to this webhook URL.

Step 2: Configure Additional Endpoints

  1. Navigate back the Webhooks tab.
  2. Locate the field labeled Additional Endpoints. Use the Select Account dropdown to choose from the list of webhooks you've connected.
  3. (Optional) Use the Select Event Type filter to specify which events you want to trigger payloads for. Available event types include:
    • Email Sent
    • Email Reply
    • Lead Category Updated
    • And more...
  4. Once you’ve made your selections, click Create Webhook.  This will generate a new OutboundSync webhook.

If you want to update an existing OutboundSync webhook to include additional endpoints, you can do so in the Webhook Settings.

Step 3: Manage Your Workflow

Once your additional endpoints are configured, Smartlead payloads will automatically be sent to the selected webhooks based on your event triggers.
